ABOUT US

High Fiber Diet is a group of fiber artists committed to advancing their art professionally. HFD actively searches for exhibit venues, and members have the opportunity to submit work for juried group exhibitions. High Fiber Diet members challenge themselves to become more educated about art and design principles and to improve creatively on an individual basis. The group meets 7 times per year (February, April, May, July, August, October, and November) on the third Tuesday from 1:30pm – 3:30pm. Venues may change and some meetings are held online. Meetings usually include a discussion topic, updates on current and upcoming exhibits, and sharing of members' current work. For more information about the group, check the HFD blog at www.hfd-highfiberdiet.blogspot.com or contact Pam Pilcher at pilcherpam@gmail.com.

The group is affiliated with Columbia FiberArts Guild of Portland, Oregon
.

What's Blue to You at Portland International Airport

High Fiber Diet's exhibit "What's Blue to You?" is now on display at the Portland Airport in Concourse B.  It's behind security, so you have to be a traveler in order to see the show.  The exhibit will be up through the end of May, 2015, so if you are traveling, be sure to set aside a few extra minutes to see the 17 quilts interpreting the word "blue".

In the same concourse, across the hallway, is an exhibit by the Westside Modern Quilt Guild depicting Portland Bridges.  High Fiber Diet members have quilts in the Bridge exhibit as well. There are lots of reasons to travel this winter and spring!

Window Seat @ PDX

High Desert Colors, Elizabeth Bamberger

Elizabeth Bamberger, Shirley MacGregor and Gerrie Congdon had art quilts selected for an exhibit at the Portland Airport. Here are the details:

Title:  Window Seat
Location:  Portland International Airport,  post-security Concourse A
Date:  April  2014 through October 2014
Subject: The exhibit is built around an essay written by Jim Earl, a literature professor at U of O. In the essay, Earl uses images taken from Google Earth to educate people about the land below them as they fly. Click Here to read the essay and see the images that he used.  For the exhibit, the quilts are next to text for which each is visually appropriate.

I would encourage you to check out the essay. If you have flown across the plains or over Oregon, it is a good read.

The Simply Red Opening Reception

Diane Born's husband and I took some photos at the Tuesday night reception. We had a nice turnout. Above are pieces by Bonnie Bucknam and Sarah Miller.

We had a nice turnout of artists and others. Here are Emily Stevens, Mary Arnold, Mary Ann McCammon and Shirley Macgregor enjoying some time together.

These are overviews of the upstairs gallery.

These are shots of the downstairs hallway gallery.

Following are photos of some of the individual quilts. I am sorry to say that I am not sure who created each of these.
